Teaching Portfolio

My teaching philosophy is full of love, support, and a possion for seeing my future students succeed. There is no one "perfect formula" for every student, but I believe that every child can flourish when taught by an educator who will truly take the time to get to know them.

Community

I thoroughly enjoy volunteering in our community. Over the years I have spent time volunteering in my children’s schools and in my church.

I find great joy in volunteering in my children’s schools. I have helped plan classroom parties and served as a grade parent. I was also the Classroom Activities Coordinator for the Lyter Elementary PTO during the 2018-2019 school year. My main duties were collecting and counting the box tops and coordinating the Christmas festivities during Santa’s visit to the school.

I am an active member of Faith United Methodist Church in Montoursville. I was the Casserole Ministry coordinator for three years. I created a Facebook page for the group and utilized it to organize meals to be delivered by volunteers to those in need. This helped ease the burden of families who were going through tough times, or in some cases for families who had just welcomed a baby. I taught a kindergarten Sunday school class last year, and I loved getting to know and bonding with those children. I still help with the Sunday school classes on a rotating schedule as a classroom assistant. I have also helped with many of our church’s food packing events, including the Backpack Program which benefits the Montoursville Area School District. My small group has also packed meals at the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank. For the past two summers I was a Crew Leader during Vacation Bible School, which I find to be very rewarding.

I feel we are all given unique gifts and it is important to utilize those gifts by serving our community. I especially enjoy working with children in my volunteer work and love seeing them grow during that time.
